The safety of Malibu residents is a top priority for a Malibu City Council Member. Having been involved in the City’s Public Safety operation, Doug understands both disaster preparedness, keeping PCH drivers out of harms way, and managing the homeless in public places are high concerns. Doug is committed to supporting law enforcement, government agencies, and elected officials in enacting policies and allocating resources best suited for protecting Malibu residents.
HELP MALIBU'S ECONOMY
With the COVID-19 crisis disturbing our local economy, Malibu needs a Council Member who has achieved success in both good and bad economic times. Doug will bring multiple decades of finance and budget management to the City Council. Malibu will benefit from Doug’s controlled approach to the City’s spending and his emphasis on the safe re-opening of local sales tax generators.
EVACUATION & WILDFIRE SAFETY
With the next fire season on its way, there is high probability of another natural disaster. Malibu must be prepared for any potential crisis on the horizon. When elected to Malibu City Council, Doug will be an advocate for proper management through the next disaster with ready-to-operate EOC and evacuation plans.
Malibu residents know all too well how the homeless population has increased. For the safety and well-being of all those in Malibu, it is crucial to have a Council Member who will look at all sides of the homeless issue. When elected to the Malibu’s City Council, Doug will investigate solutions not only for those living on the streets, but also for those living in their cars and RV's.
Malibu parents want educational results, not just a place to send their kids for the day. Doug understands the importance of maintaining Malibu’s unique school system by focusing on preserving local student enrollment and emphasizing an efficient use of existing school funding.
PRESERVE MALIBU'S ENVIRONMENT
A balance between maintaining rural nature while allowing property owners reasonable uses for their property can be achieved through perceptive management experience. Doug will strike this balance through expansive managerial skills to cultivate an economically strong city that never loses its unique beauty and character.
As a long-time resident, Doug believes that Malibu locals should always have the final word instead of external influences. Doug will prioritize the input of his constituents in decisions such as education, land use, and City services when elected to the Malibu City Council.
